Berlin, September 17, 2026 – Lenus Health, represented by Dr. Sam Azimi, participated in a meeting focused on strengthening pharmaceutical and healthcare cooperation between Germany and China.
Organized by the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW) in cooperation with DeTai Berlin, the event brought together representatives from Germany’s pharmaceutical and medical technology industries and a delegation from China’s Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone.
The meeting focused on opportunities for German healthcare companies to enter the Chinese market, understand regulatory requirements, and explore potential international partnerships.
Boao Lecheng: A Gateway to China’s Healthcare Market
Located in China’s Hainan Province, the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone operates under a special regulatory framework that allows certain innovative medicines and medical devices from abroad to be used in authorized healthcare institutions under specific conditions.
This framework offers European pharmaceutical and medical technology companies an opportunity to introduce and evaluate their products in a controlled environment while gaining valuable insights into the Chinese healthcare market.
One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the role of Real-World Data (RWD) in evaluating medical products and supporting regulatory processes. Participants also exchanged perspectives on regulatory challenges, cooperation with local partners, and practical approaches to international market development.
The Importance of International Cooperation in Pharmaceuticals
Entering new pharmaceutical markets involves more than introducing products. Regulatory compliance, quality standards, reliable sourcing, and trusted business relationships are essential to building sustainable international operations.
For pharmaceutical wholesalers and distributors, these factors are particularly important, as international supply chains require close coordination between manufacturers, suppliers, and distribution partners. The meeting in Berlin provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore approaches that could support stronger healthcare cooperation between Germany and China.
Lenus Health’s Participation
Dr. Sam Azimi attended the event on behalf of Lenus Health. For our company, participating in such meetings provides valuable opportunities to stay informed about international market developments, exchange knowledge with industry professionals, and strengthen professional connections.
